How does plate tectonics explain the volcanoes that form along the mid-ocean ridge? ?

Please explain! How does plate tectonics explain the volcanoes that form along the mid-ocean ridge? ?
The mid ocean ridges are one of three types of plate boundaries. Accretionary (plates moving toward on another). Divergent (plates separating). And Transform (sliding past on another).

The mid-ocean ridge is an example of a divergent plate boundary. This is where new crust if formed from magma that upwells from the mantle. Magma that upwells will form volcanos on the surface of the earth.

Another example of a divergent boundary is the East Africa Rift Zone.
