Hi,
I just installed the Ridge beam for my addition. On top of the posts that hold the beam up, I have simpson ccq column caps. The beam is resting on the roof, and two caps. The column cap in the middle has a small gap between it and the beam. My question is can I place some shims in the gap, or should I trim the roof portion of the ridge beam, so that the beam will sit flush in the column cap?
Thanks for your time,

Yeah its OK to place shims between the ridge and the connector cap, as long as it is not too thick of a shim. Probably no more than a 1/2'; thick. If it is exposed finish, I would trim the beam so the shim would not show.Shims ok on simpson column cap for Ridge Beam?
Yes you can shim the column. It will be faster then trimming and works fine. Matter of fact, framing code allows shimming. Good luck
